Emily Johnson – Ballet Instructor
My name is Emily Johnson and I have the privilege of working with your children in this upcoming season at The Macholah Ballet Company! I am from West Virginia and attended Cedarville University for my undergraduate degree and Marshall University for my graduate degree. After college, I worked at Calvary Baptist Academy as the 4th grade teacher and then the Assistant Principal. As of April 25th, 2017 I am now a full time stay at home mother to my daughter Lenora. I attend Cross Lanes Baptist Church where I have been a member for 20+ years.
My dance experience comes from being a corp dancer and soloist with the Charleston Ballet Company where I danced for 10+ years in many roles such as Dew Drop Fairy – Nutcracker, Arabian – Nutcracker, Lead Spanish – Nutcracker, A variation from the scene of the Shades – La Bayadere, Solo – Paquita, Big Swan variation – Swan Lake, Little Swan variation – Swan Lake, Pas de Trois – Swan Lake, and many other classical ballets along with contemporary pieces. I have worked with Olivier Wecxsteen a retired principal dancer for the Boston Ballet Company and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. While at the Charleston Ballet Co. I was selected through the WV Dance Festival to dance in New York City for the summer.
It has always been a priority for me to be involved in a ministry both spiritually and professionally. My ministry for the past six years has been Calvary Baptist Academy. Now it is through staying home with my daughter. Adding to that, I am thrilled to be able to start ministering and training the students at The Macholah Ballet Company.
